Church on the Rock, Abilene is a Christ-Centered Gospel oriented bible-based church that focuses on the purposes of God as it relates to the life of the believer. I only walked insignificant victory in the Christian life from sin when I made regular committed service to the body of Christ a part of my weekly routine. I do not mean to miss lead you in any way we are committed to the preaching of the word, we are committed to discipleship, we are committed to evangelism, we are committed to church planting. At the foundation of these commitments is a core understanding of the giftedness of the people of God. (Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) (10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.) We are created for good works that God prepared for us beforehand. (1 Corinthians 12:7) (NKJV) (7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:) Each one is gifted, we have been created for good works, and each one has been gifted for the profit of all. Once you have been justified by faith, being used taken in hand by your maker and used for His purpose. There is no greater thrill in life than to go from being useless to useful in the hands of the Holy, Sovereign, Righteous, God is an amazing feeling. Once I started serving the bible came to life for me. After the newness of serving wears off and the wonderful people of God began to wear on my shallow spiritual exterior the commitment that I made holds me in place while the Holy Spirit goes to work deepening me. He starts by exposing my flesh and its selfish desires and motives. As I stand and serve in contrast to, however, I may feel on a given day The Lord is building my character. As I walk through this sanctifying process, I realize that I did not call myself, the Lord called me. As I see the spirit of God move through my efforts, I am drawn closer to the Lord. All at once, I desire to know Him deeper.
